چکیده

Abstract Background Neonatal encephalopathy due to acute perinatal asphyxia is a major cause of brain damage. Moderate severe neonatal associated with high mortality and morbidity rates. However, the neurodevelopmental outcomes in neonates mild are unclear. The primary aim this single-center observational study was assess short-term term asphyxia. A secondary identify predictors poor prognosis by identifying characteristics these infants according their outcomes. Methods We retrospectively investigated all at Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Medical Center from January 2014 December 2019. An abnormal outcome defined as any one following: seizures or electroencephalography, magnetic resonance imaging obtained within first 4 weeks life, neurological examination findings discharge. Results In total, 110 during period were screened 61 diagnosed encephalopathy. Eleven (18 %) had an outcome. median Thompson score admission significantly higher than those normal (5 [interquartile range, 4-5.5] vs. 2 1–3], p < 0.01). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that cutoff value sensitivity specificity (90.9 83.0 %, respectively) for prediction Conclusions 18 % outcome, such findings. may be useful predictor

Neonatal Magnesium Levels Correlate with Motor Outcomes in Premature Infants: A Long-Term Retrospective Cohort Study

OBJECTIVE Chronic neurological deficits are a significant complication of preterm birth. Magnesium supplementation has been suggested to have neuroprotective function in the developing brain. Our objective was to determine whether higher neonatal serum magnesium levels were associated with better long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes in very-low birth weight infants. STUDY DESIGN A retrospect...

Timing of Caffeine Therapy and Neonatal Outcomes in Preterm Infants: A Retrospective Study

Background. Caffeine is widely used to treat apnea of prematurity. Here, we evaluated the efficacy of early caffeine (1-2 DOL) in decreasing the incidence of adverse neonatal outcomes. Methods. A retrospective cohort was used to compare the neonatal morbidity of 150 preterm neonates with gestational age ≤29 weeks. Infants were divided into 3 groups based on the initiation timing of caffeine the...
